I haven't read the essay you reference, but I'd be comfortable with all of the things you describe---so long as the forward spells it out. The liberties like pseudonymizing or conflating characters (which she says you should ask the two individuals in person about first) are things that move the story along. I think that's the difference between memoir and autobiography. But, of course, I just made that up. Perhaps there's a much clearer distinction between the two out there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
